Before You Publish: Blogging Checklist
Check Off These Items Before You Publish Your B2B Blog Post
You've written an informative blog post. Your readers will love it. You're ready to publish. Great! But before you do, there are a few things you need to do before that post goes live. Before you publish, check off the items on this list:Proofread & Copyedit
Carefully read through your post to make sure its free of spelling, grammatical and syntactical errors and ask your colleagues to take a look at your post as well. Rewrite any sentences that are unclear and double-check that the copy is optimized for one keyword or keyword phrase in the following places:- Title
- Title tag and meta description
- At the beginning of the post
- At the end of the post
- At least one header tag
- Image alt text
Use Captivating Headings
H1s, H2s, and H3s should grab your readers attention and draw them in. The content that follows should provide them with the information they're looking for related to the heading.
Optimize Images
Un-optimized images are missed opportunities! Data shows that blog posts with images get 94% more views than those without, so it's important to include an image in each of your blog posts. But adding an image is just the first step. Every time you upload an image, be sure that the filename contains at least one keyword and don't forget to include an 'alt tag.' The alt tag is a brief description of the image, and since you only use images that are relevant to your content, the alt tag should include one of your keywords. The alt tag also gives you a chance to punch up your SEO. If you leave the alt tags blank, you're passing that chance right up!
Test Hyperlinks
One surefire way to annoy readers is to publish a post full of broken links. You have included both internal and external links within your post, make sure that all of your links are working and linking to secure, relevant content before you push the post live. Open the post in preview and click on every link to manually check that all links are working.Optimize Title Tags & Meta Descriptions
Just like alt tags, blank title tags and meta descriptions are missed opportunities. Be sure your title tags and meta descriptions contain your keywords/keyword phrase before your post goes live.Make Every Blog Post Countblog post count
